A SWEET STORY, A CERTAIN COTTON BAG

Institute full of romanticism

The series on the history of cotton bags, usually focuses on the promotional assumptions of our clients. We want to explore the idea behind the creation of certain designs and graphics. This time, however, we would like to explore and slightly expand the story of the bag's creation to include the history of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute - as the project itself is closely linked to the headquarters, whose history is extremely impressive. The building, in the form of a magnificent mansion, was one of the few in the center of Warsaw to survive both world wars.

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, was established to promote Poland through culture on the international arena. The Institute's patron was, not coincidentally, the precursor of the Romantic era in Poland itself, which promoted change and the influence of culture on the full picture of the world - emotions and a certain idealization of art.

Sweet history

It all started back in the 19th century, when the Warsaw we know today and its streets were just forming. It was then that the property on which the building numbered 25, located between Marszalkowska and Mokotowska Streets, still stands, was separated. In the process of many transformations and changes, the building deteriorated badly - thus it was leased to Bohdan Broniewski, who revitalized and expanded the building, transforming the place not only into a family estate - the Union of Lublin Sugar Refineries also found its headquarters there. Nowadays, the Sugar Growers' Palace houses the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, established in 2000 as the Center for International Cultural Cooperation.

Timeless details of architecture on cotton canvas

The building's interior played a key role in the selection of graphics used in the project. It was created based on the decorative and architectural details of the building. The graphics used in the print designs are a real reflection of the floor located on the 1st floor of the palace's main hall. The floors, like the columns, stucco frames and wooden balustrades, are among the oldest surviving architectural elements of the building.

According to the information obtained - the author of the designs is Dr. Izabela Jurczyk, the lead graphic designer of Studio Design and also a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. Studio Design cooperates with many cultural institutions, including the NCK and the Lodz Philharmonic. She is also the author of the development of the new branding of the Museum of Lodz, which was also based on architectural and decorative elements of the museum's headquarters.

New branding in ecological style

Nowy branding w ekologicznym stylu

Idealne połączenie ekologicznych materiałów i ponadczasowego wzornictwa.
